Application Requirements

To become licenced in Alberta, you must fulfill the following requirements.

   Step 1: Complete funeral service education program and practical work experience
Education must be completed through Mount Royal University (MRU) or the Canadian College of Funeral Service (CCFS).

   Step 2: Write the AFSRB Licensing Exam - Funeral Director or Pre-need Salesperson
Contact the Alberta Funeral Services Regulatory Board to schedule your in-person exam

   Step 3: Apply for Licence
The following documents must be completed/uploaded before submitting the application to the Business Manager for approval.

Licences will not be issued until payment has been received.

Funeral Director Fee   $ 100.00
Embalmer Fee   $ 100.00
Pre-Need Salesperson Fee   $ 100.00

Application Approval Process

Once you have submitted the application, it will be sent to your business manager for approval. You will receive an email when the licence has been approved.
